Our Board Members

  • Alena Balakos - President

    Alena is a Realtor with Six Degrees, & is passionate about local government. She moved to Saint Joseph in early 2019, & loves everything about the neighborhood. She wants to see Saint Joseph’s Area Association not only grow in numbers but also thrive - to be on the map! Her favorite thing about Saint Joseph is the sense of belonging she feels, & that all her favorite spots are within walking distance from her house!

  • Sharon LaRue - Vice President

    Sharon moved here in 2003. She loves walking through the neighborhood green spaces - Bradley Park, the historical Grotto, & the Temple cemetery. She participated in Center for Neighborhood’s Green Institute & would like to see more eco-friendly initiatives, arts/culture events, & community celebrations to bring neighbors together. Sharon is the executive director of an organization that funds feminist art for social change across Kentucky.

  • Nicholas Johnson - Vice President

    Nicholas bought his Saint Joseph home in 2017, and has been flying his flags on Crittenden Dr. ever since. His favorite feature about the neighborhood is walking to Zanzabar to catch a concert, and stopping to pet all of the cats on 'Catwood' Street along the way! Nick is an environmental activist and Program Manager at the Louisville Sustainability Council. He wants to see Saint Joseph continue to grow into a clean, healthy, walkable (and fun!) neighborhood

  • Ashley Evans - Treasurer

    Ashley has been a resident of Saint Joseph for going on 18 years, now. She moved into the neighborhood during college, & then never left!

    Ashley is a sales consultant, offering a full line of human capital management for small businesses. She loves living in Saint Joseph, & has the best neighbors. In her free time, she helps her husband restore houses.

  • Rachel Casey - Secretary

    Rachel most recently moved to Saint Joseph in 2021, but has been in & around the neighborhood for over 10 years. As an Urban Planner by trade, she is passionate about a healthy & sustainable future for all residents, in her neighborhood & in the city of Louisville. Rachel's favorite thing about Saint Joseph is walking or biking to Dairy Kastle, & seeing friends along the way!

  • Zach Wohl

    Zach Wohl

    Zach has lived on Maylawn since 2014. He works in the medical technology field. Zach is passionate about serving the residents of Saint Joseph by growing neighborhood awareness, and increasing safety, & wants to see out several beautification projects around the neighborhood - Prosper Preston & our very own Buffalo Project.

  • Gail Linville

    Gail is a lifelong resident of the neighborhood, and was both the first & longest running President of our neighborhood association. Her family roots of living in Saint Joseph date back to the early 1900s. Gail has seen many changes and seasons of transition in our neighborhood. She is the leader of Saint Joseph’s Grotto Grannies, and looks forward to seeing a vibrant, walkable neighborhood again.
